PHILIPPINE PSYCHOLOGICAL CORPORATION (PhilPsyCor) was formally incorporated in 1961, but originally took root in 1948 at the Institute of Human Relations (IHR) of the Philippine Women’s University (PWU). Originally designed to serve as a counseling and guidance center of PWU’s staff and students, the IHR soon received requests for its profes-sional services such as psychological testing, training seminars and psychotherapy from both educational and business-industrial sectors of the country. Proceeding from the work initi-ated by IHR and from its own efforts, PhilPsyCor is recognized as the pioneer in industrial psychological testing in the Philippines. At present, the company’s client list includes virtu-ally all the top corporations in the country, practically all the schools and most of the gov-ernment agencies that have need for testing on a large scale.

As the exclusive distributor and reprint licensee for the major psychological test pub-lishing houses of Europe and the United States, PhilPsyCor offers the widest array of psy-chological test materials available, providing appropriate and alternative assessment tools for specific needs. Under special arrangement with its publishers, the Company is able to offer reprinted tests at prices much lower than these would be available at their source.

PhilPsyCor’s Testing Department does testing work for clients who may not have the expertise to do testing themselves, or for those who prefer objective work done by an independent outside party. It is also authorized to administer specialized admission and qualifying examinations for universities in the United States.

With the permission and close coordination of the test authors or publishers, its Research Department is involved in making psychological tools as applicable to the Philip-pine setting as possible through the adaptation and translation of its more popular tests, and developing Philippine norms for local use.

The Company’s Training Department organizes specialized seminars to train peo-ple on the proper use of psychological assessment tools. Periodically, PhilPsyCor also in-vites distinguished psychologists to lecture on their tests and/or on their fields of expertise.

Through the years, PhilPsyCor has proven of invaluable assistance to companies and government institutions for their various personnel-related assessment and screening pro-grams. Institutions of learning, on the other hand, invariably look to PhilPsyCor for their student admissions and guidance counseling needs.

With its conscientious, continuous search for newer dimensions and fresher perspec-tives, PhilPsyCor has become a living institution, conscious of its manifold role in providing the psychological assessment tools for the country’s industrial and educational concerns.
